Vila Formosa Country Houses are located in the heart of Northern Alentejo, in the District of Portalegre, 10 miles away from Ponte de Sôr and 9 miles away from Alter do Chão.

These houses are part of a Monte Alentejano which belongs to the same family since the beginning of the 19th century. It was built by one of the property owners, in 1936. He also built a chapel near the family house fulfilling a promise. At that chapel all his grandsons were baptized, two of his five grandsons and three great-granddaughters were married.
Nowadays, the property is established as Vila Formosa’s Agricultural Society, whose associates are the heirs of the previous owners.
